Co-created by DOX BOX and AFAC, the Documentary Convention (DC) is an annual international convening of the documentary community with a focus on documentary industries of the Arab region and Europe.
DC gathers leading documentary professionals and decision-makers from all over the world, and from the Arab region and Europe, to create a platform for dialogue, collaboration and resistance, designed to inspire creativity, foster connectivity and ignite change. Ultimately creating a lobby and point of reference for the advancement of documentary at large.
DC is a professional-to-professional event, directed at individuals that are committed to being actively engaged to bring positive change and development to the Arab and international documentary industry. It is built around an immersive program of inspiring keynotes, project presentations and practical workshops that sit alongside expert groups who ensure result-orientation and continuation.
The first edition of the DC took place from 12-14 April in Leipzig at the Mediencampus Villa Ida . The industry-program was complemented by a series of film screenings and panels that are open to the public.
Associate Partners for the first edition of the DC were Dok Leipzig, IDFA Bertha Fund and the Sundance Documentary Program. Read more about the DC’18 partners here.
The second edition of Documentary Convention takes place from 15-17 April in Leipzig, Germany. You can review initial program and confirmed list of contributors here.
